Saved €10 million for a Private Equity client by delivering unwelcome truths.

Despite public acclaim as a successful venture, with accolades for its entrepreneurial narrative, the company faced a severe profit decline; in reality, it had never turned a profit. Initially positioned as a leader in the healthy superfood sector, the company enjoyed rapid market penetration and respectable brand recognition upon launch. However, within one year, it descended into financial turmoil, culminating in three years of sustained losses. Only sustained investment from our client, the Private Equity firm, kept the business afloat.

Upon their invitation, we conducted a comprehensive business audit encompassing consumer research, sales analysis, financial scrutiny, and organizational evaluation, pinpointing the true underlying issues within a mere 10 days. The prognosis was grim; without substantial investment, the business stood little chance of recovery.

Despite the Private Equity firm’s willingness to engage us in a lucrative consulting project, we presented them with unvarnished truths and advocated for a bold course of action. We recommended acknowledging the losses, shuttering the business, and thus averting further financial hemorrhage, ultimately saving our client €10 million. Any other course of action would have compromised our ethical standards.”

Successfully expanded into 10 new markets within 2 years of project initiation

A prominent European company engaged our services to drive geographical expansion following 8 years of stagnant market entries. Despite its presence across multiple continents, key European markets remained untapped due to a lack of international business development expertise and fragmented focus.

Utilizing swift desk research, we curated an entry portfolio and strategically grouped markets based on predefined criteria, ensuring optimal scalability. Our efforts included crafting a robust expansion strategy, refining brand positioning, developing brand strategies, optimizing recommended retail prices (RSP), defining the route to market, and identifying essential competencies and capabilities for success, including potential outsourcing opportunities.

Executing our strategy, we secured customers, negotiated agreements and entry terms, and systematically entered 10 new markets, primarily in Western Europe. We also revamped distribution channels in Eastern Europe and provided organizational coaching to enhance the company’s capabilities for future growth. Moreover, we successfully enhanced performance in some existing markets on behalf of the client.
